Summary

The Tax Analyst reports to the Tax Manager and is responsible for the daily production of Valiant’s Tax Filing Service. This position will involve significant interaction with office staff as well as customers. This is a non-exempt position.



Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Department with tax research and correspondence
  • Prepare and upload periodic/quarterly/year-end tax files to tax system
  • Assist with research and response to Agency, Payroll Operations, and Client inquiries in a professional, accurate, and timely manner
  • Review quarterly edits; Determine validity of taxes due or over-payments
  • Assist with remitting / amending tax returns timely
  • Assist with processing Federal/State/Local/Territory tax agency remittances
  • Assist with validation of deposit frequencies and tax rates
  • Identify areas of opportunity and provide solutions to improve level of service provided
  • Assist Compliance Department with research and testing
  • Complete special projects as assigned by management


  • Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • AA/AS, BA/BS degree preferable


  • Experience

  • Minimum 2 years payroll tax experience
  • Minimum 1 year customer service experience


  • Skills/Licenses/Certifications

  • Excellent interpersonal / customer service skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll, tax deposit and filing requirements
  • Strong analytical and math skills with attention to detail and problem resolution
  • Ability to function and excel in a time sensitive environment
  • Excellent follow up, organizational and resource planning skills
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently with minimal direction
