Summary

Vice President of Product Management is responsible for strategic product development direction, competitor identification/analysis, analysis of distribution channels, analysis of product offering, recommending opportunities that warrant moving to the design phase, design products using resources from other departments, establish and implement product performance reviews.



Key Responsibilities

  • Competitor identification/analysis
  • Identification of the buying decision process
  • Sizing the market
  • Analysis of market segmentation
  • Identification of barriers (regulatory, competitive, etc) to market entry and exit.
  • Analysis of distribution channels
  • Analysis of product offering (rates, rules, forms, underwriting guidelines, claims handling, policyholder services, distribution, etc.).
  • Recommend which opportunities warrant moving to the design phase
  • Prepare pro forma revenue/cost analysis
  • Design products using resources from other departments (Rates, rules, forms, pricing, underwriting guidelines, claims, policyholder services, distribution, systems, etc.).
  • Assist Marketing with test marketing and implementation
  • Establish and implement product performance reviews

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration or a related field. MBA and/or CPCU preferred.
  • Completion of some actuarial exams, excess and surplus line experience is a plus.


  • Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership/management
  • Extensive knowledge of Product Development best practices
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume technical environment with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Team player who enjoys leading a team of highly experienced technical staff with a willingness to share knowledge with others
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, flexible and able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
